This
year, Christmas will come a bit early for 'American Idol' alum
Jennifer
Hudson.
According to the
Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar winner ('Dreamgirls') will star in the ABC
special 'Jennifer Hudson: I'll Be Home for Christmas,' airing this December.
Hudson will travel to her hometown of Chicago to perform at various locations
connected to her childhood, including her church and music academy. There,
Hudson will recall some of her favorite holiday memories.
The special will cap off a big year for Hudson, who gave birth to her first
child, David, in August. She also performed the National Anthem at the Super
Bowl in January, appeared in the 'VH1 Divas' reboot and won a Best R&B Album
Grammy for her eponymous debut.
In The News... (A Note From Principal Dr. Hall)
Greetings to all! I am very appreciative of all
the hard work and achievements made by our students and staff during the first
10 weeks. Homecoming was a great success this year, and I really enjoy hearing
about all the individual accomplishments from students and staff. I am so proud
of the gains we continue to make in our attendance and test scores. Suspensions
are down this year and student involvement in after school programs is up.
These are all very good signs for the future.
During this fist part of the year Dunbar
students have gone above and beyond expectations, their sense of school spirit
is unmatched and it shows in the pride they show in their daily activities.
this dedication has transferred into the classroom and is evident in students
eagerness to participate and learn new material on a daily basis
Teachers and staff have made great strides this
year and have been part of numerous initiatives ranging from the creation of new
curriculum and the receiving of numerous grants. Hard work and dedication to
making the classroom an outstanding leaning environment will pay of f in the
future.
We had a record number of parents coming into
the school on a daily basis to see and experience the day to day operations of
the school and parents are impressed at what they see. Based on the first part
of this semester big things are in store for Dunbar and I am glad to be a part
of it.
